Format: E-book
Synopsis: Whitley Johnson's dream summer with her divorcé dad has turned into a nightmare. She's just met his new fiancée and her kids. The fiancée's son? Whitley's one-night stand from graduation night. Just freakin' great.
Worse, she totally doesn't fit in with her dad's perfect new country-club family. So Whitley acts out. She parties. Hard. So hard she doesn't even notice the good things right under her nose: a sweet little future stepsister who is just about the only person she's ever liked, a best friend (even though Whitley swears she doesn't "do" friends), and a smoking-hot guy who isn't her stepbrother...at least, not yet. It will take all three of them to help Whitley get through her anger and begin to put the pieces of her family together.
Filled with authenticity and raw emotion, Whitley is Kody Keplinger's most compelling character to date: a cynical Holden Caulfield-esque girl you will wholly care about.

my rating | my thoughtsThe most recent books I have been currently reading have all been quite emotional books that deal with various issues, don't get me wrong I love reading books that make you have all the feelings but I felt like a change. I felt like a contemporary book that was fuuny, quirky and just different so quite randomly I picked up A Midsummers Nightmare by Kody Keplinger. Best decision ever!! This book was hilarious, so enjoyable and just ahhh, words can't describe. Why couldn't this book be longer?? I flew through it sooo fast, just in one sitting. One minute I was on page 50 the next minute I was on the last page. The very first page hooked me straight away. The opening sentence was "Hangovers are a b*tch". Come on, any book that starts off like that you know straight away its going go be an amazing book! The story line was perfect, I can't imagine how awkward that situation would be if I was in Whitelys shoes. This book had me in fits of laughter so many times. I loved the dialogue and the flirty conversions between Whitely and Nathan. I loved all the characters. Whitely was a complex character to understand at first but the more I read of her, the more I understood why she does the things she does and acts the way she does. I definitely did feel sorry for her, she didn't have the best role models while growing up. And then theres Nathan. He is soooo drool worthy. His cute, sweet, nerdy and so incredibly caring. I have one word for Nathan and that is.....YUM!! I knew from the very start when his character was introduced that I would just love him. And is it just me, but when a guy fangirls over a movie and acts all nerdy I just love it! I personally feel this book is so under rated. Not a lot of people have read this book let alone heard of it. It really gets to me sometimes when amazing books like these aren't well known. But anyways I adored this book and highly recommend it! To conclude I thought the ending of the book was fantastic. I hope in the future Kody Keplinger decides to write a short novella or something about Nathan and Whitelys college experience and tells us what happens with Whitelys mother and her. A five out of five star rating for this book for sure. |
