But things aren’t so great at home right now, and Bianca is desperate for a distraction. She ends up kissing Wesley. Worse, she likes it. Eager for escape, Bianca throws herself into a closeted enemies-with-benefits relationship with him. Until it all goes horribly awry. It turns out Wesley isn’t such a bad listener, and his life is pretty screwed up, too. my rating | my thoughtsAfter I read a Midsummers Nightmare by Kody Keplinger I just had to pick up her other novel The Duff. I love love loved this book! It was just as good as her previous novel, she does not disappoint!. I just adore Kody Keplingers writing style, its so fresh and funny and flowy (if that's even a word, but you know what I mean!) I just want to point out how much I hated the word Duff in the book. It felt like every time Wesley called Bianca the Duff, it was so mean and it was like he was downgrading her in some way. Could he not see how bothered she was when he called her that?! imagine being called the ugly fat friend in your group of friends, not a nice feeling it would be. But in the end Bianca shows us that everyone's a duff once in a while and it isn't as bad as it sounds. The strengths in Kody Keplingers books are definitely her characters. In this book her characters where very well developed with strong personalities, they where extremely likable to follow. Bianca was a fantastic main character, I completely understand where she's coming from when she has that need to find an escape or distraction from something or someone in her life. I think all of us at some point need a distraction from our lives although I can say, not all of us would be running to sleep with a gorgeous guy for our distraction. Moving on I really liked the relationship between Bianca, Jessica and Casey. They annoyed each other crazy ways but at the end of the day, they loved each other. I couldn't stop laughing every time Jessica wanted to be with Harrison and ask him to prom and all that stuff, when Harrison was obviously playing for the other team. But I think Jessica thought she could persuade him or something. Gosh she is funny! I have one name for you and that is Wesley Rush. When his character was first introduced I couldn't stand him, he was obnoxious, vain and so completely annoying. But as I kept reading, I could see that under the mask he puts on, he really is just a boy who has bad attachment problems, he is actually a fantastic listener and a complete softy. I have to admit he also has a great sense of humor. From the beginning I rooted for Toby and Bianca and not Wesley, because although Wesley seemed fun, he just wasn't Toby who may I add is the cutest thing ever. And Wesley is kind off a man whore, who has probably slept with a good population of the school. I told myself that I would not get sucked in by Wesleys charms, I was actually doing quite well until he sent Bianca that letter saying "Wesley Rush doesn't chase girls, but i'm chasing you". That letter was soooooooooo cute and ahhh I just couldn't even! And when he sent her those roses with the other note it was just to much. After that Wesley had me I was rooting for him and Bianca but also crushing hard on him. Over all I give this book a five out of five. It is packed with hilarious dialogue, amazing characters and an gripping storyline. I recommend it 100%. |
