my rating | my thoughtsSo the pilot for Delirium has just dropped on Hulu. For those who don't know, this series is based on the Delirium trilogy by Lauren Oliver. I was so excited when I heard these books where going to be adapted into a tv series because that rarely happens. Books either don't get picked up at all or they get just get translated into film. I watched the pilot and definitely had mixed feelings towards it, some good and some bad. Lets first start off with talking about the casting. I didn't really like the casting chose for Emma Roberts as Lena. Don't get me wrong Emma is a fantastic actress and I love her work but I just didn't see her as the best fit for Lena. But on the other hand I loved the casting for Alex done by Daren Kagasoff. He just fit the profile perfectly. He had the enigma, personality and smile that fit Alex's character to a T. And we can't forget to address how gorgeous he is. The directors of this series did change a couple things from the book which weren't to bad. The biggest issue I had with the pilot was that everything was happening so fast and I felt if you haven't read the books previously you would be a little confused. I felt the directors loaded the pilot with to much material for the viewers to digest. The big problem I had with this pilot was the relationship between Leena and Alex it felt like insta love. In the books they gradually and slowly become in love with each other but in the pilot it was just two minutes in and they were already in love and all gooey, that bothered me because I am not a fan of insta love. But besides all of that, the other elements in the pilot where done quite well. The way they showed the procedure to get rid of love the injection behind the ear was really cool to visually see. I am shattered that the series will not continue as it's no longer being picked up by Fox as they rejected the pilot. I would have loved to see how the series progressed. Even though the series will not continue I do still recommend watching the pilot because it was good and it was enjoyable. You have to do it quick though because Hulu is only keeping the pilot up for only a month. |
