my rating | my thoughtsThis review contains spoilers so if you haven't read this book go read It and come back :) I definitely took my time reading this book, I savored each and every word because I didn't want it to end. Reading the last book of any series always comes with emotions and feelings (I know you know what I'm talking about!) Any who, lets get to the actual review shall we. This book was epic! it was a fantastic last book to end an absolutely amazing series. I am beyond satisfied with how everything ended and where all the characters ended up. It has been such a pleasure to follow characters like Clary, Jace, Simon, Alec and Magnus through their story. What I love about Cassandra Clare is that she develops and constructions her characters in such a way that by the end of these books you are so attached to them. Let me first start with discussing Brother Zachariah also know as Gem. He is cured!! yay thanks to the heavenly fire, Gem can finally live the rest of his life which was unfortunately cut short. I was so excited when Gem and Tessa appeared in this book, it was so nice to see them again. This book had me so emotional! It had me in fits of laughter and of course it had me crying. I don't even know how many times I cried. There where two scenes in particular that just broke me down. First when I thought Isabelle was going to die, I think I literally stopped reading for a bit because if Izzy died that would be the end of it. The next scene was when Simon decided he would give himself to Magnus's father and give all of his memories to him as well, I was not expecting that! I love Simon dearly but he does make some crappy decision but of course in this case he was doing it for his friends. And finally Simon is going to be a shadow hunter! Gosh it's about time! I was so happy when I found out his going to be one, his going to be hell of a shadow hunter, I just know it. The last scene that had me all teary eyed was when Sebastian got stabbed and all the demon stuff left him and Jonathan appeared in his place. I didn't expect that to happen at all. I really wish we could have gotten the chance to know the real Jonathan (stupid Valentine and his experimenting with demon blood and all) I already knew previously that there would be deaths in this book but I didn't want anyone to die. I was really sad to see both Jordan and Raphael pass, I took quite a liking to them. I absolutely adored Maia in this book I felt she grew as a person and began to realize how strong she really is. I am loving the fact that she is now the werewolves pack leader. Go Maia! Alec and Magnus are back together! I was scared that they wouldn't end up being together but I'm happy they did because they are my meant to be. Magnus deserves to be happy as well as Alec. Let me get just this out there, how awesome was Alec in this book, in almost every fight he was the first one to jump in there and do his stuff with the whole arrow thing! We definitely got to see another side of Alec. The only thing that bothered me about this book was the prologue it wasn't that I didn't like it but wow was it long! Anyways besides that we get introduced to the main characters that are going to be in The Dark Artifices, Emma, Julian and the rest of the blackthorn children. I loved Emma she reminds me so much of Jace but also a little but of Clary to. All in all this book was everything I wanted and more. I wouldn't ask for a different ending. I am definitely going to miss reading about Jace and all his hilarious dialogue, Clary with all her creativity, Simon with all his weirdness and awkwardness and Isabelle with all her sass and whip. I am quite excited to start reading the Dark Artifices when it is released. I am officially pumped! |
