My rating | MY thoughtsOh man this book made me feel all the emotions, it made me happy, sad, it made me laugh and cry. I have heard so many good things about this book and I have finally read it and it most definitely did not disappoint! It was so adorably adorable. For a really quick synopsis this book is pretty much about the love story of two misfits Eleanor and Park. The romance in this book is so incredibly sweet and innocent. Everyday when the two of them would be the bus and read comics together and exchange tapes, that just tugged at my heart. This book shows readers how amazing being in love for the first time is, all the feelings and emotions you experience and how wonderful it is to experience it. The switching between points of view was very interesting and effective. In addition Rainbow Rowell's writing was of course amazing. The thing I love most about Rainbow Rowells books is that her characters are so realistic and relatable. I don't know if it is just me but when I read a majority of YA books the characters are so perfect. They have beautiful hair, perfect complextions and figures to die for they very rarely have flaws. But Eleanor she isn't perfect and I loved that about her. I loved how her hair was red and frizzy how she had freackles everywhere, how she dressed weirdly and how she wasn't skinny. It made her character so real. I adored reading about Eleanor and following her through her relationship with Park and how she developed as a person and became confident in her own skin. Although she did frustrate me at times. I now have to talk about the sweetest boy ever and that is Park. Park is the dream boy every girl wants to fall in love with. His not athletic or extremely muscled up or one of the jocks. Park is shy, sweet, gorgeous and so kind hearted. I loved how much Park loved Eleanor, how he gave her comics books to read and tapes to listen to and how he loved Eleanor for who she was, with her frizzy red hair, weird outfits and all. Before I forget I have to talk about Parks mum, she is awesome. I loved her accent and it was so touching when she told Park about her past and how she relates to Eleanor. Near the end I even began to like Tina, we find out she is in a similar situation as Eleanor. I could not believe in the end it was Richie who wrote them awful notes to Eleanor. How can someone be so cruel and thoughtless. I hated Eleanor's mother in this book because she pretty much bowed down to Richie and put Richie's needs over her own children. You might be wondering why I only gave this book a four out of five star rating it is only because of one reason and that was the ending of the book. I didn't mind the ending between Eleanor and Park although I would have liked if they could be together but what I didn't like was the factbook was an amazing read, I definitely recommend this book to anyone. |
