This is my third blog post from my segment My Bookish Things Topic Discussion Week. Where I chose a book related topic and just share my thoughts and discuss it with you. This topic is all about how you ( as a reader) selects your next read?
As many of you will agree choosing a next book to read could take as quick as minutes or take as long as weeks. Contrary to what ever one might think, selecting your next read is not an easy decisions! There are so many things that need to be taken into account. For example after reading a heart retching/emotional novel you don't want to straight away dive into a sci fi/action novel but a feel good contemporary or a perhaps even a comedy to lighten up the mood. Some people may even be in reverse and want a sci fi/action novel instead of a contemporary. So the question is how do you it?
By the cover? or the blurb? perhaps by personal recommendations? what catches the eyes? or do you just pick a book from your TBR list? Sometimes your in a situations where you have just finished a book and there are so many other books that you want to read in that moment, so many books that would be the PERFECT next book to move onto.
Personally for me selecting my next read is solemnly dependent on my mood and what I have previously just read. If I'm feeling down I will pick up a cutesie romance book or a feel good contemporary that will make me smile. If I feel like reading about vampires or witches with mysterious protagonists I will pick a paranormal or action thriller. If I'm in the mood for action I may pick up a high fantasy or an action adventure book. I even go through times where ill just read books from one author continuously, because her or his writing and stories are just amazing! I once went through a stage were I read seven of Abbi Gllines books in a row because her books are just so addictive. Other times I may read my next book through an authors or friends recommendations, otherwise in some cases I may chose a book with the simple fact that the blurb pulled me in.
All in all I think I think everyone is different. In the end I don't think it really matters how you chose your next read as long as in the end you do chose the right one.
